HTC have a flagship they want to keep you interested in. Easier said than done. Six months after the launch of the original, the HTC Sensation XE is raising the bar. But HTC are trying to keep a fine balance. They wouldn't want to push the envelope and make the original Sensation obsolete. The bar shouldn't be set too high either before the next flagship is due.
It's the improved sonic experience though that makes much more difference than the clock speed and battery backup. read more →

It's certainly nice to be able to choose between platforms. But while there aren't that many handsets to choose from in WP7 land, Androids come in all shapes and sizes. It's not tablet-sized, but unlike actual tablets, theres always room in a pocket for the Sensation XL. And that screen is big enough for tasks like web browsing (the browser performance impressed us too) and reading texts. read more →

The XE doesn't improve much on the first Sensation and better phones are hitting the market. Did we mention Beats Audio is a gimmick?
HTC Rezound for Verizon unveiled: Beats Audio, 4.3-inch 720p display, available November 14th for $299 Beats Electronics' Jimmy Iovine: 'we have got to get to the phone' HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio, we go ears-on (video) The Sensation XE is a great phone, but it is no more or less great than the original Sensation. read more →
- Good build quality and aesthetics
- Great packaged headphones
- Beats Audio software is largely a gimmick
- Aging display technology
- Camera isn't up to par, especially with video
- The extra speed isn't worth the battery drain
The HTC Sensation XE is an excellent mobile and for any audiophile out there, this sound be taken into serious consideration.
The upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 3.6 has breathed new life into the Sensation XE, allowing it to happily compete in the mobile market for the next year or two. read more →
- Updated to Ice Cream Sandwich
- Great screen
- Contacts and social networking implementation is top-notch
- Fantastic keyboard
- Seven home screens not expandable
- Autofocus can be erratic
- Resizing video for MMS issue
We say kudos to HTC for trying to diversify the Android lineup branching into specialized smartphones like the audio-oriented Sensation XE, an upgrade to one already excellent flagship. However, we are not impressed by the minor improvements. As there is nothing new in the audio-centric hardware or the music player, the only improvements are the great in-ear headphones bundled with the phone, and the Beats Audio mode, which some will not use. read more →
