The HTC EVO 3D is a hard phone to review. It so wants to be the best at everything it does that its bound to end up with quite a mixed scorecard. The problem with this one is that establishing its worth to users is impossible without knowing their priorities.
What if 3D is a must-have? Perhaps the high-res screen? Well there seems to always be an alternative. It's hard to be at the top without making a few enemies. Here they go. read more →
- Quad-band GSM and dual/tri-band 3G support
- 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA
- 4.3" 16M-color stereoscopic capacitive LCD touchscreen of qHD resolution (540 x 960); Gorilla glass
- Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense 3.0
- 1.2 GHz dual Scorpion CPUs, Adreno 220 GPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 chipset
- Less than impressive screen performance outdoors
- Speed and productivity not on par with other dual-cores
- Rather heavy
- Low resolution 3D stills
- The two cameras are too far apart for good stereoscopic close-ups
The EVO 3D is a well made handset that improves upon the EVO 4G in terms of raw horsepower -- as such, it lives up to its flagship status. That being said, it's also a step back in some areas (the lack of kickstand comes to mind). While the qHD screen provides a welcome boost in pixel density, the overall display performance still lags behind the competition. Sense 3.0 leaves us cold, and now that other carriers are rolling out HSPA+ and LTE networks, WiMAX no longer feels like the new kid on the block. read more →
- Snappy dual-core performance
- Eye-friendly qHD resolution
- Fantastic camera button
- Poor battery life
- Too many camera compromises
- Display could be higher quality
The 4G-equipped, Android-Based HTC EVO 3D for Sprint is the nation's first 3D phone, but it struggles with making phone calls and connecting to the Web. read more →
- Dual-core processor
- Gorgeous Android skin
- Latest version of Android
- No-glasses 3D screen.
It depends how you look at the HTC Evo 3G when deciding on a rating; in a vacuum it's a tremendous phone with a cool extra 3D element. It's pricey, sure, but it's only the same price as the iPhone 4, and on some contracts, a bit cheaper than that.
But then you notice the HTC Sensation, which in every way is its superior (except for maybe battery life) - thinner, lighter, more stylish, brighter screen... the list goes on. read more →

Alright, there are a ton of things that we absolutely adore about the HTC EVO 3D. For starters, it’s again yet another evolutionary device that sees many improvements with its hardware to keep it going toe-to-toe with some of the elites out on the market right now. Even more, its 3D display isn’t simply a novel thing that some people might get bored with over time – namely due to its flexibility in the gaming department and easy content sharing on the go. read more →
