The HTC ChaCha is a likable little fella - with a good screen, a comfortable keyboard and a compact and slim metal body, its charm is hard to resist. Now add the deep Facebook integration, where you can share everything with the click of that magic blue button and you know SNS fans will be getting good value for their money.
Yet, not being the ultimate device in this or that category is not a huge problem for the HTC ChaCha. read more →
- Light and compact metallic body
- 2.6" 256K-color TFT capacitive touchscreen of HVGA (480 x 320) resolution
- Full four-row QWERTY keyboard and a dedicated Facebook button
- ARMv6 800MHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM
- Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) with HTC Sense 2.1 for Messenger
- Awkward landscape UI and limited compatibility with some apps
- Limited Adobe Flash support in the browser
- Sub-par camera image quality
- D1 video recording is short of inspiring
- Non-hot-swappable microSD card slot
The ChaCha is not a revolutionary device. Yes, the Facebook button is new and a few of the elements in there are premiered here but ultimately, it's an evolution, not a revolution.
Having said that, it's not necessarily a bad thing. You know what you're getting here - a stable OS with an extra skin on top that has proven to be more than competent. And for the 14-21 year-olds who have their eye on this 'Facebook phone', it'll be enough. read more →
- Great Facebook integration
- Thought-out UI
- Typing is a dream
- Small battery with a long life and quick charge
- Responsive touchscreen
- Screen sometimes feels too small
- Camera could be better
- Flash on websites doesn't work properly
- Chin makes the design look odd
- Awful name
If you find it hard to take the HTC ChaCha seriously with its funny name and interesting take on social networking, we'd like to take the opportunity to assure you that without the blue button, the ChaCha is still a solid performer. While it can be a little buggy, with better hardware across the board than its main competitors and Sense UI adding a decent amount of functionality, the HTC ChaCha delivers a good amount of fun, functionality and affordability. read more →
- Great QWERTY
- High resolution screen
- Good camera
- Display text often too small
- Re-formatted UI occasionally buggy
- Styling may not be for everyone
After denying early reports, HTC and Facebook reveal two Android smartphones, the HTC ChaCha and Salsa, built around the popular social networking site. read more →
The HTC ChaCha does a great job of being a Facebook phone, but the lack of a bigger screen and auto-rotation makes the user experience less than satisfactory. The ChaCha makes a strong first impression, but this hasn't stayed with us through the review process. HTC does a great job or redesigning its Sense UI for the small screen of the ChaCha, but we can't help wishing that it had just given us a bigger screen, instead. read more →
- Cute design with a premium finish
- Facebook is integrated well.
- Small screen is problematic
- some apps appear sideways
- average battery life and camera.
this phone is very good for everything even though the battery can slow you down sometimes. the way I get round this is by using during the day and than while I'm asleep let it charge. I find the android market is very good and this phone is very capable of all types of browsing. the keyboard is a dream and the Facebook chat that is embedded is very helpful since you can just click on it and you're away. I would recommend getting this phone on a contract with unlimited texts to take full advantage of is amazing keyboard.
- very good keyboard
- responsive touch screen.
- decent apps available.
- easy to work.
- battery could be improved.
- memory could be bigger (not a problem with a memory card, and since every phone comes with one as standard, there should never be one.
