Google Pixel XL Review

The Pixel XL is a phone on a mission, looking to not only draw attention to Google's prowess as the company behind advanced smartphone software and service, but also as a company that can design some attractive, high-end, and most importantly desirable hardware. HTC may be building the phone, but Google's calling the shots, and its ambition shows.

That puts a lot on the line for Google, but for the most part it doesn't mess up anything of consequence. read more →

Google Pixel XL Review

Google is finally taking the smartphone fight seriously, launching two new handsets with one simple message: Pixel, Phone by Google. That might sound like a slightly gawky message, but it's laced with potency. More than at any other time in the history of Android, Google is taking the fight directly to Apple, and the Pixel is the punch into the soft belly of the iPhone.

This is the Google Pixel XL, the larger of the two Pixel devices, and it's Android's new heavyweight champion. read more →

  • Great build quality and design
  • Great camera, good battery life
  • Uncluttered pure Android experience - with extras
  • Unlimited photo storage
  • No microSD card slot
  • Camera has some white balance issues

Google Pixel XL review

Google Pixel XL looks like an iPhone. It’s a black (or white or blue) slab of metal, with curved edges and a rear that tapers ever so slightly to help it sit better in your hand. There are flashes of inspired design, overall the focus clearly more about functionality than flashiness. While the front is sparse, the back is a tad more interesting.

A glass panel covers the camera and stretches down over the circular fingerprint scanner. This gives the rear of the phone a two-tone look. read more →
