There's no point telling RIM to mind their own business. That's what they've been doing all along. It's what made them the brand of choice for corporate customers. Some may argue that corporate users don't quite get to choose - and we can see a point there. But choice is something RIM are not afraid to make.
On the other hand, they had something to unlearn too. Sometimes, short-term memory loss can be a good thing. read more →

It's a slick package from afar, but using the BlackBerry Torch 9860 after the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation and iPhone 4 feels like going back to 2009.
There's lots to boast about on this phone, no doubt, but we just can't recommend it over the rest out there for anyone other than those desperately tied into RIM's services who want a slick new all-touch experience. read more →

The Torch 9850 is a solid, capable little smartphone, and BlackBerry 7′s UI arguably suits the all-touch display most of all. With the 1.2GHz processor RIM’s handsets no longer feel like the slowest devices in the pack, and while we’d welcome more metal and less plastic in the construction, the styling is a reasonably successful compromise between classic RIM functionality and the curviness of a consumer device. With little in the way of must-have features however, it’s tough to recommend the 9850 to those who would otherwise be considering an iPhone or Android device. read more →
During my review I was approached by a BGR fan asking to see my BlackBerry Bold 9930. “I also have the Torch 9850,” I told him as I took it out of my pocket. He looked at both of them and said, “Yeah, this isn’t for me, I’m definitely more excited for the Bold.” That’s exactly how I feel about the Torch.
The 9850 is decent enough if you require a full touchscreen display, but if you need a BlackBerry and are on Sprint, I’d recommend the Bold 9930 any day, hands-down. read more →
