BlackBerry Storm2 9520 review: Back in Black... Berry

RIM have certainly succeeded in making their touchscreen absolutely consistent with the very BlackBerry concept. The Storm series are not shying away from innovation, but the number one purpose of innovation here is to respect tradition. There's nothing wrong with that but it's not the best way to appeal to a wider market. Anyway, the ongoing effort to match the hardware keyboard ergonomics on a touchscreen seems almost complete with the Storm2. read more →

  • 3.25" 65K-color capacitive touchscreen of 360 x 480 pixel resolution
  • Improved touchscreen experience with piezo-electric touch feedback system
  • 3.15 MP autofocus camera, LED flash
  • BlackBerry OS 5
  • No email support without BlackBerry Internet Service account
  • Interface not as quick as competitors'
  • Chubbier than most touchscreen phones with similarly-sized displays
  • Mediocre camera
  • No FM radio

    RIM BlackBerry Storm2 9550 Review

Despite the very similar design and software, the RIM BlackBerry Storm2 9550 manages to be a major improvement over the Storm 9530. This change can be attributed almost wholly to the improvement in RIM’s clickable screen, which now can register multiple inputs properly and due to the four sensor points feels much more like a real keyboard. The increased memory and new 5.0 OS proved quick and snappy with almost no lag. read more →

    • Vast improvement in screen technology makes the Storm2 better to type on
    • Threaded messaging
    • Navigation keys are now integrated into the screen for a sleeker look
    • Very good media player
    • It works now, but we’re still not sold on the whole clickable touchscreen idea
    • Battery may be a concern for very heavy users

BlackBerry Storm 2 review (Verizon Wireless)

The RIM BlackBerry Storm 2 brings some welcome additions, such as Wi-Fi, updated software, and a better touch interface, but it's going to face some serious competition from Verizon's upcoming touch-screen smartphones. read more →

    • The RIM BlackBerry Storm 2 adds Wi-Fi, more memory, and an updated operating system that brings a number of feature and user interface enhancements. The revamped SurePress touch screen allows for more precision, key rollover, and limited multitouch capabilities.
    • BlackBerry browser isn't on par with the competition. While improved, the touch screen still takes some acclimation.
