Lets try and outline the profile of the likely BlackBerry Pearl 3G user. To begin with, its either a guy or a girl. That one was easy business phones usually have unisex appeal. It has to be someone who absolutely needs the BlackBerry service for the corporate-grade security or whatever other reason. And they need to meet at least one of the following requirements: a) cant afford the BlackBerry 9700 Bold or b) think the Bold and the Curve are too big and have too many buttons.
The Pearl 3G 9105 on the other hand is perhaps for people who have so far snubbed BlackBerry for being too complicated, too corporate and uptight. read more →

As you would expect, the lack of a QWERTY keyboard means the Pearl 3G is not exactly an ideal phone to use for tapping out longer emails, so if you’re used to the keyboard on your current BlackBerry then this isn’t the handset to upgrade to. However, the phone is obviously targeted at those who want a smartphone that doesn’t look like a smartphone, but still retains all the same functionality. read more →
- More pocket-friendly than other BlackBerrys
- Good build quality
- BlackBerry OS 5 on-board
- Lacks iOS/Android smartphone chops
- High pixel-density screen
- Keypad can't beat a Qwerty
The Pearl 3G is a fast, solid smartphone that will always live in the shadow of the excellent, larger BlackBerry Bold.
If the BlackBerry Pearl 3G has a problem it's that the BlackBerry Bold 9700 came out months before it. Of its own merits, the Pearl is an excellent phone, its fast, stable, capable of running your life and filling in the dull moments with games, music and videos. But we don't love the form factor, the keypad feels cramped and every time we look at the screen we wish it was bigger. read more →
