Will a QWERTY-free, slimline BlackBerry make merry in the mass market?

The BlackBerry Pearl 3G is a good quality smartphone that should serve you well, but with just a couple two many issues to make it a highly-recommended one and the lack of a genuine wow factor, it's not going to top our charts. read more →

    RIM BlackBerry Pearl 3G Review

If there is one target audience that the RIM BlackBerry Pearl 3G is targeting, then it's none other than entry-level users looking to move up to a smartphone. Naturally, the Pearl 3G perfectly fills the gap in making the transition smooth and without over-complicating things. The updated looking handset is definitely a sight for sore eyes, especially when it's more than over due at this point, but there isn't anything too eye catching with it to catapult it over the competition. read more →

    • Updated & modern design
    • Nice looking display
    • Great battery life
    • Pricey for its category
    • Fuzzy looking images with its camera

    BlackBerry Pearl 3G

The Pearl 3G does exactly what it promises, offering all the features of a top-of-the-line BlackBerry in a small, candybar case. But BlackBerry devices are all about email and messaging, so we missed the full QWERTY keyboard of the Pearl 3G's siblings.

Is there a place on Earth for a BlackBerry with an alphanumeric keyboard? With great connectivity and excellent email capability, the BlackBerry Pearl 3G can certainly hold its own against other smartphones without touchscreens, like the Nokia E75. read more →

    • Flat, responsive trackpad
    • small size
    • good social-networking apps with more available from the BlackBerry App World
    • integrated email inbox
    • high-resolution screen
    • BlackBerry OS is looking dated
    • app store is pricy and offers less choice than competitors
    • we miss the QWERTY keyboard
    • Web browser doesn't impress
    • small screen.

    Blackberry Pearl 3G review

The original Pearl was a good handset, but in its sucessor Rim’s created something far superior. It’s quicker and more user friendly with better features, although we’d have preferred a QWERTY keyboard. The Peal 3G still isn't going to appeal to anyone looking for browsing and multimedia capability, but for emailing and text it's a compact, yet capable alternative to the Nokia E72 and Blackberry 9700. read more →
