Acer has followed up its Stream with another smartphone that doesn't quite live up to expectations. The price is attractive, and the screen is very good, but there are some irritations too. We aren't sure we like Breeze as a user interface, the camera needs some work, and for all its social media integration we don't appreciate how convoluted the process is.
This is a step in the right direction for Acer, but we still struggle to see how this phone really differentiates itself from the rest of the Android crowd. read more →

As a phone the Acer Liquid Metal performed very well. The voices in the earpiece were loud and clear sounding, without hissing. Thanks to the dual noise-cancelling microphones the other party said they could hear our voices clearly, and the traffic noise seems to have been filtered out of the equation. The 1500mAh is rated for 8 hours of talk time with 3G connectivity turned on, and 23 days of standby. read more →
- Speedy second generation Snapdragon chipset
- Very good call quality
- Ergonomic curved design with metallic accents
- Innovative Breeze UI
- Subpar camera
- Easy to smudge screen
It has a good screen, decent processor and runs a recent version of Android. However, the handset’s design just doesn't work as well as it should and detracts from its desirability. In addition, Acer should drop its custom Android interface as it only really succeeds in making Android more convoluted to use. Nevertheless, the price is attractive, so if you can put up with its quirks then the Liquid Metal may be a good buy. read more →
