As we near the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s expected launch in July 2024, rumors about the foldable keep showing up online. The latest prediction comes from a known tipster who has an excellent track record of predicting details about upcoming smartphones. It turns out that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature a slimmer profile, improving its weight and thickness, which would enhance the in-hand feel. Here’s everything we know about the purported foldable’s weight and dimensions.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 To Be The Lightest Book-Style Foldable From Samsung

The current Z Fold 5 (review) weighs 253 grams, which makes it a hefty smartphone. However, according to reliable tipster @UniverseIce, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will weigh 239 grams, bringing it into the league of lightweight foldable smartphones. For instance, the OnePlus Open weighs up to 245 grams, while the recently-released Vivo X Fold 3 weighs 219 grams, making it one of the lightest foldables. The tipster writes in a post on X (previously known as Twitter) that the “Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighs 239g and finally reaches the first tier level. It weighs the same as the Voyager Black OnePlus Open.”

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Leaked Dimensions

Further, the tipster has also shared some information about the Z Fold 6’s dimensions. He states that the upcoming foldable has an “unfolded thickness of 5.6mm, [and] a folded thickness of 12.1mm.” This makes the Z Fold 6 significantly thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which has a thickness of 13.4mm when folded and 6.1mm when unfolded. While the Z Fold 6 undercuts its predecessor, it still doesn’t seem to be able to beat the OnePlus Open (11.7 mm when folded) and the Huawei Mate X5 (11.1mm when folded).

Moreover, Samsung’s upcoming foldable will be 1.4mm thinner and about 14 grams lighter than the current version, which is a step in the right direction. This shows that the company has taken user feedback seriously. Further, when the competition has cracked the code with thinner and lighter foldables, the market leader can’t afford a sluggish approach to making relevant changes across its lineup. It is important to mention here that Z Fold 6’s unfolded depth is slightly different than what our source confirmed, along with the Z Fold 6’s exclusive renders

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Inner And Outer Screen Dimensions

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is also said to feature a 7.6-inch foldable screen with a 7:6 aspect ratio and a 6.3-inch cover screen with a 22:9 aspect ratio. The leaked dimensions imply that the foldable will have a slightly different form factor than the Z Fold 5, which has a 7.6-inch inner screen with an aspect ratio of 5:6 and a 6.2-inch outer screen with a 23.1:9 aspect ratio. Long story short, the Z Fold 6 will have a slightly taller display. Last but not least, the tipster mentions that both the inner and the outer screens of the Fold 6 will have a better resolution.

A couple of hours later, the tipster published an alleged image of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 prototype. Although it doesn’t reveal any significant details about the upcoming smartphone, it does showcase a handset chassis with the label “22:9” on it, which possibly signifies the cover screen’s aspect ratio.
