Recently, a video was shared online in which MS Dhoni was seen playing Candy Crush on his tablet aboard an IndiGo airline flight. The video took the internet by storm.
In the video, MS Dhoni can be seen at his simplest as an air hostess was seen offering chocolates to him. The ace cricketer warmly acknowledged her gesture and interacted with her. In the same video, a tablet displaying the Candy Crush game was visible in front of Dhoni’s seat.
These visuals of Dhoni playing Candy Crush sparked the intrigue among fans and #Candy Crush started trending on Twitter along with #Dhoni. Many Twitter users shared nostalgic comments for the game while others focused on Dhoni’s simple yet adorable pastime. Although some claimed that he was seen playing Pet Rescue Saga, that didn’t dampen the spirits of the majority who found it to be Candy Crush. Soon after Candy Crush started trending, the mobile game app claimed that it has gained more than 30 lakh new users as people downloaded the app on their devices. This happened within 3 hours of the video going viral. One page of Candy Crush on Twitter thanked MS Dhoni for playing the game and making it go viral.

For those unaware, Dhoni is not just a cricketer but an avid fan of video games and all sorts of outdoor sports. He plays COD, FIFA, PUBG, and more. Bowler Ishant Sharma in an interview said, “We all carry PlayStations wherever we go. Mahi Bhai loves playing online/video games like COD, and he’s quite fond of PUBG.”
On various occasions, Dhoni’s been spotted playing football, tennis, shooting, horse riding, and more. Earlier this month, he underwent knee surgery in Mumbai post which he returned home to Ranchi. He has been the face of Indian cricket for over a decade now and has gained tremendous popularity because of his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. He took retirement from Indian Cricket in 2020 but has said that he will try to play the IPL 2024 season for his fans.
