After a lot of rumors and speculations here and there, Mark Zuckerberg has officially unveiled the Meta Quest 3 mixed reality headset at $499.99. Available across all the countries where Meta Quest is supported, the virtual and mixed reality headset is set to disrupt the electronics. It also comes at the right time before Apple takes off the cloth from its Apple Reality Pro MR headset at the WWDC 2023 earlier next week.

Introducing Meta Quest 3 Virtual & Mixed Reality Headset

Meta Quest 3 uses a next-gen Snapdragon chipset that promises to deliver twice the graphical performance of Quest 2 while providing better higher resolution on the output. Quest 3 has a 40% slimmer optic profile with redesigned Touch Plus controllers that have improved tracking without needing outer tracking rings. The Touch Plus controllers arrive with TruTouch haptics that improves the experiences you can feel.

The Quest 3 has been redesigned entirely fitting into a slimmer profile. If you compare the two, you will see Quest 3 is a lot lighter, more comfortable, slimmer, and overall better than the previous gen. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg did explain key details about the Quest 3 before it launched. The info included four cameras (two standard and two full-color) housed in pill-shaped zones split between left and right sides along with a single depth sensor that improves its AR performance.

Quest 3 is compatible with almost everything Quest 2 arrives with i.e. 500 VR games, experiences, apps, and more. On the pricing side, Quest 3 is priced at $499.99 and you can find out more information about it on Meta’s website. It will be available for sale starting this fall. There’s Quest 2 ($299.99) and Quest Pro available at relatively lower pricing that you can choose from the following.

Meta also announced software updates on the previous-gen Quest headsets. The update will improve Quest 2’s CPU and GPU performance by 26% and 19% respectively. The Quest Pro will receive an 11% increase in GPU performance as well. Both headsets will get Meta’s Dynamic Resolution Scaling feature as well.
