Mahindra is bringing a new range of electric SUVs to India. With that being said, it is expected to tease the electric version of the Bolero SUV on August 10. With that being said, there’s an electric XUV300 that is catching up with all the hype amidst the EV revolution in India. Dubbed XUV400, it will be an all-electric variant based on XUV300 releasing this September. Let’s read more about the upcoming EV and how it will compete against rivals like the Tata Nexon EV Prime.

XUV400 Electric: Design

The Mahindra XUV400 Electric (EV) is based on XUV300 which is available in India as of now. There will be some differences between the two. The EV variant is expected to grow in length to about 4.2 meters given the fact that EVs get an advantage over the compact form factor, unlike the ICE variants. The silhouette of the two is expected to be the same as well although with the roof line slanting inwards and raised stance among others.

The XUV400 EV will be based on the eXUV300 concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 with triangular fog lamps and LED DRLs among others. We will still have to wait for more time to get intel on what the XUV400 EV will bring to the table.

XUV400 Electric: Features

Although we are far from summarising details available about the XUV400, there are reports that put a few features on the list. According to an Autocar report, the upcoming XUV400 EV is expected to get a 150hp electric drivetrain under the hood. There will be multiple battery pack options available at the user’s preference when buying one. You get a whopping 400 km of range on a single charge on the double battery pack at the most.

Some of the other features that we can expect the XUV400 EV to pull off are fast charging support, regenerative braking, a large infotainment system, and multiple lighting systems in the cabin among others. Although the list seems very short for now, XUV400 EV will bring a lot more to the table so you will have to wait to know more.

Mahindra XUV400 Electric: Pricing in India

Mahindra XUV400 is based on the eXUV300 concept and here, Mahindra will be targeting an entry-point EV segment in India, the pricing is around INR 15,00,000/- (or 15 lacs). This puts Mahindra XUV400 Electric right around the corner with Tata Nexon EV Prime as its primary competitor. For context, the base XUV300 retails starting at INR 8 lacs for the base variant. It is also similar to how Tata prices its Nexon ICE and EV variants on the way.

Mahindra XUV400 Electric: Launch Date

Well, talking about the launch date for the Mahindra XUV400, it is expected to hit the Indian market sometime in September this year. Although there’s no update on the exact date, September is highly likely for the launch. Its deliveries are expected to begin between January and March 2023 at the earliest.
