iQOO had an interesting 2023, especially with the Neo series which was very well received by the public. Now, iQOO is all set to add a new member to its Neo Series in India- iQOO Neo 9 Pro 5G. It is confirmed to arrive in the country on 22nd February 2024. The smartphone has a different design and some of its key specs have also been revealed by iQOO. In terms of the camera, it has a dual-lens setup at the back that includes a 50MP primary and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. At the front is a 16MP selfie shooter. We at Smartprix got a chance to spend some time with the iQOO Neo 9 Pro camera earlier this month. In this article, we will talk about how the camera setup of the iQOO Neo 9 Pro fared during our initial usage.

50MP Primary Rear Camera

The 50MP camera is a Sony IMX920 sensor and comes with Optical Image Stabilization. There are three profiles to capture images, namely Natural, Textured, and Vivid. The Natural Mode clicks most color-accurate photos while the Textured Mode optimizes camera algorithms for detailed and sharpened images. The shots taken using Textured Mode show warmer shades. The third, Vivid mode captures images with peppy color saturation levels.

During our usage, photos using a 50MP sensor were mostly taken using Natural or Vivid mode for scenery. However, when you need more detailing in your output, using Textured mode comes in handy. Subjects in indoor lighting conditions were also shot decently using Textured Mode.

The natural mode gives accurate colors but the textured mode gives details, however, it changes the color temperature. We noticed slightly inconsistent dynamic range in certain conditions. So, the user has to decide what he/she wants. You can take photos at 1x and 2x zoom levels and there is a 50MP high-res mode as well.

Ultra Wide Angle Camera

The 8MP ultrawide angle sensor offers images with ample detailing, though not as much as the main camera. There is a difference in color temperature too when you compare the output of this lens to a 50MP sensor. Also, the ultrawide angle shots look distorted from the edges.

Night Mode

iQOO Neo 9 Pro comes with a dedicated Night Mode that uses the 50MP sensor to click photos. In areas where artificial lighting is dim, the night mode captured clear and slightly detailed shots without much noise. Even when zoomed in, the above image has plenty of details which certainly impressed us.

Portrait Images

Portraits clicked using Neo 9 Pro 5G are full of details, vibrant, and sharp. When you switch to portrait mode, you will find that the skin enhancement features are turned on by default. The bokeh effect is there but it can be adjusted as per needs. The subject in the frame has been made the sole focus of the portrait which leads to the highlighting of eye-catching elements.

Please keep in mind that these are just initial thoughts about how the cameras on iQOO Neo 9 Pro have been doing. There will be much more to talk about in the review when the device launches next week.
