Interestingly, Huawei’s Watch GT runs proprietary Light OS, instead of Google’s Android Wear. During the global launch, Huawei claimed that its wearable OS delivers better performance and efficiency. Huawei Watch GT has a real-time heart rate monitoring feature, is water-resistant, and can track sleep and sports activities.

Huawei Watch GT features and specifications

The Huawei Watch GT comes with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 454×454 pixel resolution. It will be available in two options: classic and sports. The watch is 10.6mm thin and comes in two strap options – a dual-color silicone band and a leather-rubber band. The watch is 5ATM certified as well. Huawei has placed an optical heart rate sensor onboard that uses 6 LEDs and works in tandem with Huawei’s TruSeen 3.0 technology that promises more accurate monitoring.

As per Huawei, Watch GT can last for two weeks on a single charge with varied usage of heart-rate monitoring and 90-minutes of exercise per week. Furthermore, the company further claims that it will last for 30 days if the heart rate monitoring is off and the watch is used only for receiving messages and calls.

Under the hood, the Huawei Watch GT features 16MB RAM and 128MB ROM. Huawei uses a dual-chip architecture that helps in achieving great power efficiency. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth v4.2, and NFC though there is no Wi-Fi support. It can be paired with any device running Android 4.4 or later, or iOS 9.0 or later. The Watch GT battery takes a little over two hours for a complete charge.
