Honor launched the X9b smartphone last month alongside which the brand also announced Honor Choice Buds and Honor Choice Watch. Honor Choice Smartwatch is a budget wearable that comes with various attractive features. The smartwatch has SpO2, a heart rate sensor, a calorie tracker, exercise modes, and features like Bluetooth calling for a price of a mere Rs. 6499. Moreover, the Honor Choice Watch looks good as well.

Now the question arises whether this Honor Watch which comes with an attractive design and features, is capable of meeting smartwatch needs in everyday life. Do all the trackers in this watch offer accurate numbers for 6k? Will the Honor Choice Smartwatch will be able to make its place in the market or not?

We used this smartwatch for around one week and now we are trying to answer all the questions above through our Honor Choice Smartwatch review.

Honor Choice Watch Price

Honor Choice Watch is priced at Rs. 6499 in India. It can be purchased via Amazon, Honor website, and offline stores. For now, it is available at an introductory price of Rs. 5999.

Honor Choice Watch Review: Design

Let us talk about the Honor Choice Watch design first. Although it is made of plastic it is strong and never looks cheap or inferior. The watch has a rectangular dial with rounded edges inspired by the Apple Watch. While the dial looks decent for those whose wrist is sleek, this watch might look too big.

With a display of 1.95 inches, this watch is lightweight and can be worn easily. I wore this watch while taking a walk for a few days and after some time I almost forgot that I was wearing something. You can easily wear this watch the entire day. The watch has a button on the right edge, which when pressed once shows apps and double tapping shows the exercise section. In the center is an AMOLED dial which has metallic paint on all four sides and the left edge houses a speaker.

The watch has a plastic cover at the bottom and sensors in the middle. When you use the heart rate sensor, the LED lights blink green. On the other hand, when you use the SpO2 sensor, the lights blink red.

The watch comes with a black color strap that is changeable. Just like Apple Watch, these straps have been tucked under the dial so it looks good and can be easily removed for cleaning. To wear the watch, the strap has a metallic buckle so you can easily tie the watch on one hand with the other one. Once worn, the watch remains steady on your wrist. Honor watch comes with 5ATM certification for protection against water. It has dimensions of 49.7×39.9×10.2mm and weighs 45 grams. Overall, the design and build quality are decent.

Honor Choice Watch Review: Display

Honor Choice Watch sports a 1.95-inch AMOLED display which produces clear and bright visuals. With a pixel resolution of 410×502 pixels, the watch also has 2.5D curved glass and 550 nits brightness level. The display is clear and smooth offering a premium experience. Even under direct sunlight, you can view the results of your trackers on the screen. Touch is responsive as the moment you tap on any app or exercise icon, it immediately starts running.

Whether the watch is on your wrist or lying on the table, as soon as you pick it up, the display awakens instantly and then goes off in a few seconds. This ensures the battery lasts longer. However, since there isn’t adaptive brightness, you will have to adjust the brightness levels manually.

There were no issues regarding performance.

Honor Choice Watch Review: Watch Faces & App Support

With Honor Health App support, the watch can be connected to Android as well as iOS devices. The homepage of the app shows several steps, workout time, calorie count, and more. Scroll down and you will find more sections showing all the data.

You can add a calender in the app for menstrual cycle tracking and to analyze your workout data in detail, you can visit the exercise tab. It mainly includes step count, outdoor workout time, distance covered, calories burnt, etc.

Using the app you can choose from hundreds of watch faces and play sleep music as well. The application also has stress-relieving breathing exercises, a map for walking, a stress test, and more features.

The only niggle is that while you can view notifications from mail and WhatsApp on your watch, for replying to them you will need your smartphone. But, I would still say that it is a decent deal for a price this competitive. All-in-all Honor Choice Watch offers a decent performance for a price of under 7000. Almost all trackers give accurate readings and there is Bluetooth calling capability as well. Although sometimes syncing takes time, this can be ignored if you consider the price point.

Honor Choice Watch Review: Performance & Health Features

Honor Choice Watch works best with the Honor Health App being downloaded on your phone. The app downloads within minutes but connecting the watch to the app took time as the app wasn’t able to detect the watch on its own. After it got connected, logging in on the app was easy. The best part is that after getting synced, the watch ran smoothly. The data tracked on the smartwatch was Accurately displayed on the app.

Swiping from the top opens a quick settings menu that has options like DND, Flashlight, Settings section, Display on time, Mute, and more. Swiping from the left opens weather, music control, favorite contacts, and widget options. Swiping from the right shows activity records, and swiping one more time toward the right shows the heart rate sensor, SpO2 sensor, and other trackers.

The watch allows the user to play and pause music, change tracks, and view important notifications as well. With Bluetooth connectivity, you can pick up your calls using the watch and talk through the speaker. Interestingly, the calling experience was better than my expectations. I could hear the voice of the person on the other end clearly, and there were no lags at all.

Health Tracking Features

The Watch has almost all those health features which are found on mid-range smartwatches. With Honor Choice Watch you get breathing exercises, water reminders, heart rate, blood oxygen, and other trackers. Swiping left to right brings up exercise options that include options like swimming, walking, running, mountaineering, and more. Just tap on any of these modes and you will get the entire data when the workout is completed.

I selected outdoor walking mode and compared the data of a 40-minute walking session with the data on the Apple Watch. The step counter and distance data were similar, however there was a slight difference in calorie count. This can be neglected considering the price of the Honor watch.

Heart rate sensors and SpO2 sensors also provided accurate readings, which is mostly not the case with mid-range smartwatches. I compared the sleep data of this one to the Amazfit watch and it does offer deep, light, and REM readings accurately.

There are 120 sports modes available and even if some of these modes don’t offer accurate readings, the basic metrics like calories, steps, or exercise data will be correct.

Honor Choice Watch Review: Battery Life and Charging

Honor has packed its smartwatch with good features and battery life is one of them. The watch draws juice from a 300mAh battery and according to Honor, the battery can last for 12 days on a single charge with moderate usage. Runtime of 9 hours is claimed with heavy usage. While these claims don’t match up after charging it to 100% and using it moderately, it easily lasted for five days. The usage included the SpO2 sensor being on, a daily walk of 40 minutes with music playing, sleep tracking, exercise tracking and sometimes calling as well. With all these activities, a battery life of five days seems decent.

You will get the charging cable bundled inside the box which can be paired with any USB-A port adapter to charge the watch. It takes around one and a half hours to charge to 100%.

Review Verdict: Should you buy Honor Choice Watch?

Honor Choice Watch has been launched in India for a price of Rs. 6499. While on paper the watch does have all the features that a mid-range smartwatch has, but the best part is that the sensors on this one give accurate readings, which is not the case with others in the segment. The AMOLED display is legible under direct sunlight and UI is easy to use as well.

Moreover, you get a premium design and Bluetooth calling for a price of Rs. 6499, and calling works well too. You can wear the smartwatch without getting inconvenienced for a long time and the battery life is decent as well. So, if you want to buy a smartwatch with all fitness and health features in the 6k range, then Honor Choice Watch can be a good option for you.
