Google has been in the race to make Chrome the best browser by improving it and adding new features as times goes by. Well, after the introduction of the new picture-in-picture Chrome tabs feature in Chrome 122, Google is working on bringing another big feature and that is PDF support for the Chrome mobile app.

PDF support for the mobile app

The desktop version of the Chrome browser can already open PDFs directly without downloading them (if possible). This makes it convenient for the user since they don’t have to constantly switch between multiple windows to read the PDF and browse the internet at the same time.

This feature was somehow still missing on the mobile version of the browser. However, with the new Chrome 123 update, that’s changing for good. Chrome will now be able to open PDFs which means that users don’t need to leave their browser if they want to read a PDF.

Although the feature isn’t live yet, the code for it has already been set as seen in the Chrome flag: chrome://flags/#android-open-pdf-inline. This will make Chrome the first mobile browser to open PDFs without an external application. Other Chromium-based browsers should also soon follow suit.

Easier tab group sharing

Another exciting feature that Chrome 123 flags suggest is the ability to share a link to an entire tab group. This will make it much easier to share tab groups with other users and also make it convenient for them to open all of the shared tabs at once. This is a much-welcome change since you can only share individual links of a tab group for now.

Generative AI features turned on by default

Aside from these new features, Google is now turning on the generative AI features of the browser by default. This means that users who are unaware of the feature can finally have a taste of it. Don’t worry; if you don’t want to use Chrome’s generative AI features, you can still turn them off.

Unsubscribe button

Another Chrome flag, chrome://flags#notification-one-tap-unsubscribe, suggests a new “Unsubscribe” button in the notifications so you can quickly get rid of unwanted notifications from sites you might have subscribed to accidentally. This is a great feature that many users will appreciate.

You can download the latest Chrome update from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
