BYD is now the largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the world after overtaking Tesla in the race. Even though with good business activity for battery technology in India, BYD is just foraying in the country with its initial phase of electric cars. The Chinese EV maker has debuted its first BYD E6 electric MPV for private buyers in India and the company has now launched the BYD Atto 3 as the first fully electric car.

The Chinese automaker is producing the Atto 3 at BYD’s plant in Sriperumbudur, which is close to Chennai and follows an SKD (semi-knocked down) meeting route in India. Nevertheless, Warren Buffet-backed BYD has already officially launched Atto 3 electric in several global markets and here are the very details of BYD Atto 3 in India.

BYD Atto 3 electric SUV is priced at Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. The delivery of the new electric car is scheduled to start in January 2023.

BYD Atto 3: Battery and Range

BYD has installed its own Blade Battery technology to meet the fuelling needs of the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV. The 60.48 kWh battery source that powers the BYD Atto 3 produces a maximum torque of 310Nm and 201bhp. The new electric SUV has a 7.3-second 0-100 kmph acceleration time. The ARAI claims that it has a 521 km range on a single charge. The battery gets charged from 0% to 80% within 50 minutes.

BYD Atto 3: Exterior 

The BYD Atto 3 features streamlined and slim headlamps with a closed-off front grille and ‘BYD’ branding in the centre. The tail-lights meet each other across the body and tailgates sport a one-touch open feature. It has LED headlights and split LED tail lights, a closed front grille, a ripple D-pillar, and a shark fin antenna. A panoramic electric sunroof, roof rails, and electric OVRMs are other inclusion.

BYD Atto 3: Interior

The interiors of BYD Atto 3 will come with a Blue-Grey colour scheme including a 12.8-inch rotating touch screen and a 5-inch digital instrument cluster. It will get synthetic leatherette upholstery with heated front seats, steering wheel-mounted controls, and a boot space of 1330 litres. It will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for connectivity features. It also gets dumbbell-style AC vents, a push-up electronic gear lever, a 31-colour ambient lighting scheme, and a panoramic sunroof.

BYD Atto 3: Safety Features

BYD Atto 3 will come with advanced safety features including seven airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) Electric Parking Brake System (EPB), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Hill Descent Control (HDC), and seat belt reminder. It will be equipped with an ISOFIX child restraint anchorage point and a 360-degree view monitor.

BYD Atto 3: Colour Variants

BYD is retailing four colour variants of Atto 3 in other global markets which we expect to ship to India as well. It includes Ski White, Surf Blue, Parkour Red, and Boulder Grey.

BYD Atto 3 will stand above Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV while it will be below Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 Recharge. BYD is also expected to be at the upper hand in offering mid-range electric cars at a time when Tesla is not coming into the country any time soon.
