Highlights:

  • Samsung is reported gearing up for an all-Exynos Samsung Galaxy S25 series
  • Galaxy Z series is touted to get a Snapdragon-only chipset while Galaxy A-series will get a combination of MediaTek and Exynos SoCs
  • Purported Exynos 2500 specs suggest it will pit against Apple A18 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoCs

Earlier this year, we got our hands on the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S24 series with an array of AI features. However, things might change with the Galaxy S25 series as it might change its chipset strategy (once again). A tipster on X (formerly Twitter), says that Samsung could use an Exynos chipset across the entire Galaxy S25 line-up potentially breaking away from the current strategy.

If the rumors turn out to be true, we could see all Galaxy S25 series models – S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, could potentially get Exynos SoC and most likely, it will be Exynos 2500 SoC.

The tipster points out Samsung’s chipset strategy for 2025 Samsung phones. Per that, the Galaxy S-series will get Exynos-only chips. Samsung Galaxy Z series will get a Snapdragon-only chipset while the budget Galaxy A-series will stick to both MediaTek and Exynos lines of chipsets.

Talking about the Galaxy S25 series specifically, the rumored strategy overturns last year’s mix of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 & Exynos 2400 SoC that the S24 series saw. Samsung resorted to a Snapdragon-only chipset a year prior (i.e. Galaxy S23 series), that saw both Snapdragon and Exynos SoCs under the hood.

Coming back to 2025 Samsung phones, it remains to be seen why the Galaxy Z series is the only one to get Snapdragon-only chipsets.

Talking about the previous specs leak on Exynos 2500 aka Dream Chip, the SoC is built on Samsung’s 2nd-gen 3nm GAP/SF3 process with a max 3.2GHz (or more) Cortex-X5 core. It brings three Cortex-A730 cores (clocked between 2.3 to 2.5GHz), two Cortex-A730 cores, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. Cortex-X5 core can pit against Apple’s custom CPU core in terms of performance. If that continues, we could see the Exynos 2500 pit well against the A18 chip from Apple and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 from Qualcomm.
